Praying in God’s Word

1 John 5:14 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” NIV.

Isaiah 43:26 Put me in remembrance; let us argue together; set forth your case, that you may be proved right.” ESV.

Praying according to God’s promises and Word in scripture helps us to grow in God’s wisdom and make effective prayers. As we know that the will of God is found in His Word; The Lord says that put me in remembrance, let us argue the matter together that you (we) may be justified. How can we talk to God in ignorance ie without His Word, what do we have to say even? God calls His Words “great and precious promises” and says that He watches over His Word to perform it. Numbers 23:19 says “God is not a man, that he should lie…”).

In Isaiah 55, He likens His Word to rain, “For as the rain and the snow come down and do not return without watering the earth and making it bloom and sprout and furnishing seed for the sower, so shall My word be that goes forth from my mouth. It will not return unto me void without accomplishing all that I desire and without succeeding for which it was sent.” We have to present His Word to Him to bare a witness.

A case in point, if we promised someone something and they come to us according to our promise, we do strive to fulfill what we promised, God takes pleasure in fulfilling His promises but He wants us to go to Him with them. When we pray the Words and promises God has already spoken, we are putting ourselves in agreement with Him — the creator of the universe. Speak the word of God, quote scripture and God’s promises while praying and He will fulfill them. This year as we continue praying and hoping for the best from the Lord, let us confront the throne of God in prayer with His Word and He will fulfill it. God bless you!!

Jesus Takes It Away

John 1:29. Reading from the World English Bible.
“The next day, John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

Today’s message is from a testimony of Jesus’ cousin John the Baptist, through him God proclaimed to us about the One who takes away the sin of the world. Taking away the sin of the world may seems far out there in the world “sins of those people who do not have a relationship with God” He actually takes away our sins; my and your sins.

The word takes that John used is both a present and a continuous tense, well, it is sometimes difficult for people to accept that sin is within us especially Christians, the seed of sin is in our flesh and it can manifest anytime that’s why the Spirit of God within us testifies of us picking up the cross daily. Let us accept the very truth that sin is within us and so ask Jesus to put our lives in light, let Him search deep inside of our hearts and expose everything that He came to take.

He died for it and He was, He is and is willing to take it away, give it to Him. We are purified by Jesus and it is a daily thing otherwise when we become comfortable then the seed of sin within us will sprang to life and before we realize it we would have fallen, we are not different from those believers we know who have fallen, we must daily die to self. If you do not have a relationship with God through Jesus, invite Jesus to be the Lord of your life for He died for the reason of taking away both my and your sins. God bless you.

First Things First – Putting God First!

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

This is one famous scripture, but one least applied scripture in the body of Christ. If it is applied, most of the times it’s a reverse application.

You are not supposed to strive to be rich, to be successful, to make money, to find a wife. People are always doing something about something about something to get something. It’s not wrong to do something, that’s the right thing. God says whatever you do shall prosper, so start doing something.

However, this obsession about getting rich, this obsession that only business and hustle is the only content in your mind, this attitude, it is not godly. Some single people are always on watch, looking for a husband or wife. They are on the go, in figurative polite speech, kind of desperate.

You are doing it wrong. Seek the kingdom of God first. Make your relationship with God your first priority. It’s about Christ in you and you in Christ, one fusion with Christ, then everything becomes an outflow. All these other things shall be added. What do you understand about the word additions? It means they are not the main deal. God and you is the main course.

I choose the kingdom first, choose the kingdom also, that’s the way to true prosperity. Prosperity which doesn’t add cancer to your body, which doesn’t stress you or tear your family apart. It says in Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. It’s through seeking the kingdom first!!!

Is it necessary to pay tithes?

The system which God created operates on the principle of seed and harvest. Same applies in the Christian realm. If you plant something, you will harvest, provided all other factors don’t hinder the process.

Now this is different from receiving. Harvesting is different from receiving. When you seed, you harvest, when you ask you receive: two different things.

In order to harvest, you should put something into the ground. It says in 2 Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. This is specifically talking about quantity. Then it says in Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. This is now talking about quality or type of seed.

The number one and principal seed that Jesus taught us is His Word. It says in Luke 8:11 explaining the parable of the sower Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. When you plant that seed in your heart, it will produce the God kind of results. Don’t expect to reap the God kind of results while you are sowing seeds of hatred, carnality etc in your heart. Sow the word of God in your life!!

Of course sometimes it might look as if harvest will not come, but it will!!! Just keep cultivating and taking care of your heart so that thorns and thistles of this life will not choke the word. Sometimes it may look like it’s seed time and then harvest. Follow after patience. Most of the times it’s seedtime seedtime seedtime seedtime seedtime seedtime and then harvest will come.

If you become familiar with the word of God, you need not to worry about other types of seeds like giving, the Word itself will teach you those.

How To Overcome Lust In 4 Hard Steps

lust Almost every man has a good heart and wants to serve God however there is always one thing that gets in the way….LUST! Not every man will be tempted by drugs or alcohol however almost every has been tempted by a beautiful woman. Most men of God has self-control but however when it comes to lust then the flesh has a mind of its own, it is like babysitting a monkey, the moment you pick it up then it starts slapping you and breaking all the things in the house.

Below are 4 things that will make you an upright Man of God if you apply them correctly:

1. Rebuke your lustful thoughts (Matthew 5:28)

Every man has lustful thoughts especially when you see a beautiful or curvy woman however you need to make sure that you rebuke the thought immediately as it comes to mind. The more you get used to stopping your evil thoughts then you start to notice that you will not have them that often. After Jesus said (that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart)

2. Stay away from bad company (1 Corinthians 15:33)

We all have good and bad friends, though we love them equally but we know which friends are good for us and which are bad. Some friends just bring the worst out of us. If you keep a company of friends that likes women then you will probably love them too and sooner or later you will do something you are not supposed to do.   What you need to do is get rid of your bad friends because for some reason, bad friends always over power the good friends and we all know it!

3. Keep good friends around. (Proverbs 13:20)

Good friend or saved friends act as your conscious. It is hard for you to commit a blatant sin when you have born again people around you. That is why we are all holy in church because the Pastor and other Christians are around. Therefore you need to make sure that you keep are “conscious” around at all times that you may not fall into sin.

4. Run away from sin (1 Corinthians 6:18)

As the famous song by Joyous Celebration says “Baleka”, the best way to tame the flesh is to run away from temptations. You see, Jesus said “and lead us not into temptations” meaning that the Lord knows that no matter how holy you think you are, if you stay in a tempting situation long enough then you will break. The Lord did not say make us strong to resist temptations, he said lead us not… It’s better not to be in a tempting situation than trying to resist it.

We need to make sure that we stay Holy at all times because it would be a shame to go to hell for something as silly as lust. If you gonna go to hell for something then it better be something big like stealing R208 million of tax payers money to upgrade your home or something.

The Outside Appearance Reflects The Inside

This is a judgmental article and that is written by a sinner like everyone else, however it is not the writer that judges but the word of the Living God. (psalm 9:5)

Here are few questions that will hopefully make you think every time you are preparing to go for a church service :

Why do you dress in a professional outfit whenever you are going for an interview?

Why do you dress in a decent way when you go to a funeral?

Why do you dress in a certain way when we go to a party?

How can we claim we love and respect the Lord when we come dressed like prostitutes in his house, wearing outfits that are designed to attract men into a brothel and yet we know that God stands for Holiness. We come to his house and use his Word against him by quoting scriptures like “God looks at the heart”, doing the exact same thing that a drunkard would do when he is questioned about his drinking… quoting the “Jesus made wine out of water” scripture.

Whenever someone dresses in a reveling way, they are not only sinning against the Lord but they are also making other people sin as well by provoking lustful thoughts of the men of God.  That person becomes a true agent of the devil, having the same assignment as the demons and evil spirits. Mark 9:42 says ” If anyone causes one of these little ones, those who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea.”

We have to understand that we are the temple of the Lord and the book of 1 Corinthians 6:13 says the body is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, therefore the Holy Spirit will not stay in an unholy place.

If we do not follow the Word of the Lord a 100% then we will become normal church people, who will spend our whole lives struggling with sin while others are being used by mightily God.
